Senya Rabouin had 21 points, six assists and a pair of steals and junior center
Tori Hollingshead added 18 points Saturday night to pace the Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team to a sixth straight win, 89-68 over Simon Fraser at the Alaska Airlines Center.
The Seawolves (8-5, 2-2 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) also got nine rebounds and a career-high five blocks from Hollingshead as they led throughout, outrebounding the visitors 52-40 and outshooting them .450 to .343.
The Red Leafs (9-7, 1-2) were led by 23 points from senior wing Jessica Wisotzki and 22 points and five assists from her younger sister Sophia.
"I loved our energy and our execution from the opening jump tonight," said UAA head coach
Ryan McCarthy, whose team moved from eighth into a tie for fourth place in the early GNAC standings. "Our pressure gave them trouble and we were able to turn their mistakes into points at the other end. This was another solid step forward for our group tonight, and we have a very high ceiling for success moving forward."
After going to overtime to claim last year's home win over the Canadians, the Seawolves kept the drama much lower this time. Rabouin scored 14 of her points on 6-of-10 shooting in the opening half, getting to the basket for multiple scoop layups as UAA forged a 51-28 halftime advantage.
Simon Fraser never got closer than 18 points on a pair of occasions midway through the second half.
Sophomore guard
Elaina Mack scored 14 of her 16 points after the break, finishing 4 of 10 from long range and nearly matching her career high with six rebounds.
Junior guard
Kya Pearson added three assists and a career-high 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting as UAA's reserves outscored SFU's 38-11. The Seawolves dominated the other specialty stats as well – 31-9 on points off turnovers, 60-30 on paint points, and 22-13 on second-chance scoring.
Jazzpher Evans added nine points (4-6 FG), three assists and six rebounds, and junior forward
Kate Robertson had seven rebounds for UAA, which has not lost since a 62-59 setback at Seattle Pacific on Dec. 2.
