The Rock (4-2) were led by 12 kills from Erica Selfridge, but the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference club was held under .200 hitting in all four sets, committing at least seven attack errors in each.
"We were able to serve a little tougher to get them out of their system during the second half of the match, and then convert defensively to score," said UAA head coach
Stacie Meisner. "I liked our resilience today, and we have one more match to keep improving before we hit GNAC play next week."
Trailing 1-0 after Slippery Rock finished with kills on the final two points of the first set, the Seawolves found themselves down 12-9 midway through the second frame. Senior outside hitter
Katie Birtcil-Tipton ripped two straight kills to swing the momentum completely, however, sparking a pivotal 11-1 UAA surge.
UAA pulled another comeback to win the third set, erasing a 13-8 deficit with eight straight points. Tuchardt had four kills in the span of 14 rallies to forge an 18-17 lead, and Allen put the Seawolves up for good with a kill at 19-18.
The fourth set was never truly in doubt after Birtcil-Tipton served two aces in the first four points. UAA jumped to a 6-0 lead and closed with a .345 to -.074 hitting advantage in the final frame.
A transfer from Saint Martin's, Allen hit .250 and recorded her most kills and her second double-double as a Seawolf.
Galloway, a junior libero from Pensacola, Fla., topped her previous career high of 22 digs and equaled her career-best seven assists as well.
Birtcil-Tipton and
Larssen Anderson notched seven kills apiece, while senior middle blocker
Leilani Elder had five kills on .267 hitting.
