Kadyn Osborne delivered a flawless performance and fellow senior
Katie Birtcil-Tipton had eight kills and 13 digs Saturday as the Alaska Anchorage volleyball team rolled to a fourth straight victory, 25-12, 25-16, 25-11, over UNC Pembroke at the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic at the Patty Center.
The Seawolves (6-4) got kills from all nine of their players, including seven on .350 hitting from junior
Tia Allen, on their way to a season-best .364 attack percentage.
The Braves (2-4) got a match-high kills from McKenna Hayes, but managed just .033 hitting.
"It was a great finish to a tough preseason schedule," said UAA coach
Stacie Meisner, whose team committed only two attack errors in the first two sets. "We've made a lot of strides the last three weeks and grown as a team. We're excited to get started and see what we can do in GNAC play."
Playing their non-conference finale, the Seawolves started strong with a 6-0 run in the opening set and never looked back, being tied only once, at 8-8 in the second frame.
Osborne finished with 16 assists, two kills on two attacks, five digs, a career-high six aces, and no errors of any kind. The former Dimond High star helped UAA outhit UNCP .395 to .086 in the first, .375 to 094 in the second and .278 to -.125 in the third.
Freshman setter
Hannah Trotter added nine assists, three aces and a kill on her lone attack in UAA's '6-2' offensive system.
Senior middle blocker
Leilani Elder had five kills on .455 hitting and a match-high five blocks, and junior libero
Madison Galloway had 15 digs, while picking up her third kill in 73 career matches.
The Seawolves' 11 aces were their second-most this season as Osborne tied for No. 3 on UAA's single-match list for aces in a 3-setter.
