Hockey hosts UAF in Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup

Alaska Anchorage will host in-state rival Alaska Fairbanks in game three of the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup Saturday. This year's series is split 1-1-0 after they split the first weekend series in November. 

Series
Alaska Anchorage leads the all-time series against Alaska Fairbanks 93-78-13 and leads the series in Anchorage 53-33-7. 

Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup
The Alaska Airline's Governor's Cup started in 1993 with the Seawolves winning the year;y competition between the two schools eight times. 

Coach Shasby
Head coach Matt Shasby enters his third season leading the Seawolves. The Anchorage, native has a 28-53-6 mark as the UAA bench boss. Shasby will be assisted this season by Chris Kamal, Aaron McPheters and Vincent Pietrangelo

Point Streak
Junior Matt Johnson is riding a three game point streak with three goals and two assists in that span. The Calgary, Alberta, native has scored a goal in each of his last three games and scored one goal and one assist in both of last week's games at Niagara. He has eight points this season (four goals, four assists). 

Three Points
Junior Max Helgeson scored two goals and one assist at Niagara. The Anchorage, native has 10 points (four goals, six assists). 

Goaltending
Freshman Bryant Marks saw his first action in goal this season in last Friday's loss at Niagara. The Wasilla, Alaska, native made 10 saves on 12 shots against the Purple Eagles. 

Saturday Success
Alaska Anchorage is 5-6-2 on Saturday's and 1-11-1 on any other day of the week this season. 

Road Warriors
The Seawolves have a 4-9-1 road record and a 1-7-2 mark at home this season. 

Powerplay
UAA is 5-3-2 this season when it holds their opponent scoreless on the powerplay and 0-14-1 when they allow a power-play goal. 

Last Time Out
Alaska Anchorage and Niagara split their series last weekend with the Purple Eagles winning the first game 6-2 and the Seawolves winning the second game 3-1.
