KALAMAZOO, MICH. – No. 4 Western Michigan scored twice on the powerplay on its way to a 4-1 win over Alaska Anchorage Friday at Lawson Arena.
The Seawolves got on the scoreboard first when Dylan Contreras fired a shot off the glove of WMU goaltender Cameron Rowe for his seventh goal of the season at 5:15 of the first period. Dimitry Kebreau and Maximillion Helgeson assisted.
Liam Valente tied the game at 1-1 after scoring a power-play goal off the rebound at 7:12 of the first.
Zach Nehring scored the lone goal in the second period, scoring off a rebound at 13:49 for the Bronco's second power-play goal of the night.
Grant Slukynsky scored at 4:35 of the third period, and Matteo Costantini scored an empty-net goal from his own defensive zone at 18:44.
Tyler Krivtsov made 26 saves in goal for the Seawolves, who were out-shot 30-20.
The Broncos held the Seawolves scoreless on their lone powerplay.
Alaska Anchorage and Western Michigan will close out the weekend series Saturday at 2 pm.
