ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Erling Bjornstad won the men's 7.5-kilometer classic to lead the University of Alaska Anchorage to the Alaska Nordic Cup title over rival University of Alaska Fairbanks Sunday.
Erling Bjornstad finished in 18:37, ten seconds ahead of teammate Henry Skjoensfjell who finished second.
Hermod Bangstad was fourth (19:03), Corbin Carpenter sixth (19:08) and Murphy Kimball ninth (19:19).
The Seawolves had two women finish on the podium. Marit Flora was second (22:13), and Constance Lapointe was third (22:37).
Hedda Halvari finished fourth (23:07), and Dashe McCabe was sixth (24:39).
UAA retained the coveted Alaska Nordic Cup ski after finishing with a 5:28 advantage. The winner is determined by the combined time of the top-three skiers from each school across all four races.
UAA will compete at the RMISA Invitational in Lake Placid, NY Jan. 4-9.
