Hockey heads North for Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup

Alaska Anchorage will head North to face Alaska Fairbanks in the first two of eight games in the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup. 

Series
Alaska Anchorage leads the all-time series with Alaska Fairbanks 93-80-15, but trails the series in Fairbanks 40-47-7. UAA is 1-2-2 in its last five games against UAF. 

Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup
The Alaska Airline's Governor's Cup started in 1993 with the Seawolves winning the yearly competition between the two schools eight times. 

Coach Shasby
Head coach Matt Shasby enters his fourth season leading the Seawolves. The Anchorage, native has a 32-72-8 mark as the UAA bench boss. 
Chris Kamal and Aaron McPheters return as assistant coaches for the Seawolves, while Anchorage native Evan Trupp has joined the staff as an assistant coach.  

Points Leader
Junior Karter McNarland tallied his team-leading 10th point of the season with an assist on a power-play goal by Joey Potter at No. 3 Wisconsin last week. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native has three points (one goal, two assists) in his last five games. 

Multi-point Game
Freshman Oren Shtrom tallied the first multi-point game of his career last week at No. 3 Wisconsin. The Phoenix native assisted on Joey Potter's power-play goal and followed up with his own goal. His five points (two goals, three assists) this season ranks tied for sixth on the team. 

Point Streak
Joey Potter has recorded at least one point in each of the last four weekend series for the Seawolves. The Cranberry Township, Pa., native scored his fourth goal of the season, second most on the team, at No. 3 Wisconsin. His nine points (four goals, five assists) ranks second best on the team. 

Man in Net
Tyler Krivtsov started both games last week at No. 3 Wisconsin. He made 43 saves in the first game and 26 saves in the second game. The Santa Clarita, Calif., native has a 3.67 goals against average and a .906 save percentage this season. 

Road Success
All three of the Seawolve's wins this season have come on the road. 

Last Time Out
Alaska Anchorage dropped both of its games at No. 3 Wisconsin falling 5-0 in the first game and 3-2 in the second.         

Looking Ahead
Alaska Anchorage will host fellow independent Long Island for three games Jan. 23, 24 and 27.
