ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Ryan Johnson and Karter McNarland each tallied two points for Alaska Anchorage in a 4-3 loss to Long Island at the Avis Alaska Sports Complex Tuesday.
All seven goals in the game were either on the powerplay or short-handed.
Ryan Johnson opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 9:36 of the first period thanks to assists from Tye Spencer and Karter McNarland.
Nate Benoit tied the game for the Sharks with the first power-play goal for Long Island at 15:03.
Ryan Johnson and Karter McNarland set-up Aiden Westin for the Seawolves second power-play goal. Westin tipped in a pass on the back post at 1:03 of the second period.
Noah Serdachny scored a short-handed goal at 2:46 for LIU, and Nate Benoit completed the hat trick with goals at 5:45 and 11:30 of the second period.
Dylan Contreras scored a break-away unassisted shot-handed goal at 13:01 of the third period.
The two teams combined for 52 penalty minutes with LIU finishing 3-for-6 on the man-advantage and UAA 2-for-5.
The Sharks out-shot the Seawolves 29-23.
Greg Orosz made 25 saves for Alaska Anchorage.
UAA will host UAF at Sullivan Arena for the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup Feb. 6-7.
