ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Tye Spencer scored twice for the University of Alaska Anchorage in a 6-2 loss to top-ranked Denver Friday night at Sullivan Arena.
Oren Shtrom and Paul Bloomer set up Tye Spencer for the first goal of the game at 1:41 of the first period.
Denver's Daxon Rudolph tied the game at 10:35 of the first period.
The Pioneers added two more goals in the second period, before Tye Spencer scored on the powerplay at 9:27. Oren Shtrom tallied his second assist of the game and Cooper Anderson collected his first career point for the Seawolves.
Sam Harris scored once and Jake Fisher scored twice to complete the scoring for Denver.
William Gramme finished with 33 saves in goal for UAA.
UAA finished 1-for-8 on the powerplay and held DU scoreless on all three of their opportunities.
Denver outshot Alaska Anchorage 39-16.
UAA and DU will close out the weekend series Saturday at Sullivan Arena. Puck drops at 5 pm.
