Hockey hosts UAF in Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup

Alaska Anchorage will host Alaska Fairbanks in games three and four of the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup this weekend (Feb. 6-7) at Sullivan Arena. 

Series
Alaska Anchorage leads the all-time series with Alaska Fairbanks 93-81-16 and leads 53-33-8 in games played in Anchorage.  

Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup
Alaska Fairbanks has won the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup 17 times and Alaska Anchorage has won the Cup eight times since the Governor's Cup inception during the 1993 season. UAA last won the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup during the 2009-10 season. The winner of the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup is determined by a point system with a team earning three points for a win in regulation, two points for a win in overtime or a shootout and one point for a loss in overtime or a shootout. UAF currently leads 4-2. 

Coach Shasby
Head coach Matt Shasby enters his fourth season leading the Seawolves. The Anchorage, native has a 32-76-9 mark as the UAA bench boss. 
Chris Kamal and Aaron McPheters return as assistant coaches for the Seawolves, while Anchorage native Evan Trupp has joined the staff as an assistant coach.  

Multi-Point Game
Ryan Johnson and Karter McNarland each tallied multi-point games in the series finale against Long Island. Johnson opened the scoring in the game with a power-play goal for his second goal of the season and followed up with an assist on UAA's second power-play goal of the game. McNarland collected an assist on both of UAA's power-play goals in the game. McNarland leads the team in both points (13) and assists (12), and Johnson is tied for second in points (10). 

Special Teams
Alaska Anchorage and Long Island scored a combined seven goals in the last game of their three-game series and not a single goal was scored five-on-five. The Seawolves scored two power-play goals and the Sharks scored three. Both teams scored a short-handed goal. Dylan Contreras scored the second short-handed goal for the Seawolves this season in the contest. 

Goalie
Sophomore Tyler Krivtsov has seen the most action in net for the Seawolves this season appearing in 18 games, starting 16. He has a 3.60 goals against average and a .902 save percentage. 

Road Success
All three of the Seawolve's wins this season have come on the road. 

Last Time Out
Long Island won all three-games against Alaska Anchorage Jan. 23rd, 24th and 27th. 

Looking Ahead
Alaska Anchorage will play at fellow independent Lindenwood Feb. 13-14.
