Smith wins twice in outdoor season opener

TACOMA, WASH. – Ryann Smith won two events to lead the University of Alaska Anchorage at the Ed Boitano Invite Saturday.

Smith won the 800 (2:15.21) and 1,500 (4:35.93).

The 4x400 relay of Blanca De Arvizu Sarrias, Avrey Campbell, Jessica Chisar and McKinley Eddington won in a time of 3:59.24.

The Seawolves second women's 4x400 relay finished third (4:07.75).

Eric Bushnell placed fourth in the discus with the second-farthest throw in school history (46.49/152-6).

Tyler Drake and Tobin Schmidtke tied for third in the long jump (6.79/22-3.5), the eighth-best jump in school history. Drake finished third (15.04) in the 110-hurdles, and Schmidtke was eighth (15.91).

Jessica Chisar ran 57.10, the 10th-fastest time in school history, to finish third in the 400. She was sixth in the 200 (25.96).

Blanca De Arvizu Sarrias finished second in the 100 hurdles (14.79) and fifth in the 200 (25.90).

Vivien Liessfeld was fourth in the 200 (25.73) and sixth in the 100 hurdles (15.24).

Mya Campbell was second in the long jump (5.35/17-6.75) and ninth in the 200 (26.59).

Sarah Dittman was fourth in the long jump (5.08/16-8), seventh in the 100 hurdles (16.22) and 12th in the 200 (26.94).

In the women's 800, Lucia Garcia was fourth (2:19.25) and Lilli Lindner was sixth (2:22.45).

Tobin Schmidtke, Ethan Stiller, Hunter Taddy and Brian Morris finished fourth in the 4x400 (3:24.11).

Delaney Draeger was fifth (18:41.88) and Gloria Kiprotich was sixth (18:58.31) in the 5,000.

Seth Cupper long jumped 6.46/21-2.5 to finish tied for seventh.

Avrey Campbell finished eighth in the 200 (26.43) and ninth in the 100 (12.89).

Stephen Zukowski finished ninth in the 800 (1:59.81) and 12th in the steeplechase (9:52.19).

McKinley Eddington was 11th in the 200 (26.78), and Tobias Buchanan was 14th in the steeplechase (9:59.30).

Ethan Stiller was 10th in the 200 (22.22), and Jason Lorig was 11th in the 100 (11.00).

Brian Morris was 13th in both the 100 (11.06) and 200 (22.37), and Hunter Taddy was 13th in the 400 (51.52).

Alaska Anchorage will compete at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in Virginia Beach, Va., March 13-14.
