A dozen University of Alaska Anchorage student-athletes were honored last week for their athletic and academic prowess as the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District 'at-large' teams were announced.
The Seawolves placed 10 skiers on the honors list, along with hockey and gymnastics standouts
Logan Acheson and
Claudia Lessig. Five-time All-America alpine skier
Ella Bromee led the way for UAA with a 3.93 overall grade-point average in management. Alongside Bromee, men's skiers
Erling Bjornstad (3.88, mechanical engineering) and
Corbin Carpenter (3.93, health sciences) advanced to the Academic All-America ballot with their elite athletic accomplishments.
UAA's other CSC Academic All-District honorees are women's skiers
Olivia Carrier,
Marlie Molinaro,
Alexandra Otto and
Ainsley Proffit, and men's skiers
Carlo Cordone,
Matt Seline and
Dylan Timm.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be a sophomore academically and athletically, have a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and meet athletic requirements by sport. Schools are limited on the number of nominations they may submit.
