ANCHORAGE (Aug. 24) – Alaska Anchorage men's basketball coach Cameron Turner has added his first freshman to the 2026-27 roster, announcing Monday that Florida native Sam Quebedeaux has joined the program.

A 6-1, 170-pound guard, Quebedeaux was a first-team all-conference and all-area performer as a senior last year at Pensacola Catholic High School, where he scored 1,359 career points. In his final campaign, he averaged 17.1 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals per game, while shooting 40 percent from long range.

"I'm very happy to add Sam to our program," said Turner, who starts his first year at the helm this fall. "He's an extremely hard worker and an excellent shooter, reminiscent of some of the greats in our program such as Kyle Fossman and Travis Thompson. I've known Sam's family since my playing days in Oregon, and he comes from a terrific basketball lineage. As one of our youngest players, he'll embrace the opportunity to learn, grow and compete every day. I'm excited to see how he develops and the impact he can have here at UAA."

Quebedeaux is the 10th player to sign since Turner assumed coaching duties in the spring, joining Xzavier Baker (6-8/230, F, Anchorage/Dimond HS/Eastern Arizona/UAF), Quincy Byas (6-8/185, G/F, Portland, Ore./Rosemary Anderson Prep/Eastern Arizona), Karim Elgizawy (6-3/200, G, Cairo, Egypt/Laramie County [Wyo.] CC), RJ Foreman (6-7/220, F, Leonard, Texas/DeSoto HS/Lamar CC), Mack Keighran (6-2/180, G, Melbourne, Australia/Chadron State), Will Kuykendall (6-2/185, G, Santa Maria, Calif./St. Joseph HS/Arizona/Baylor), Joseph Mayberry (6-5/190, G, Lancaster, Texas/LHS/McLennan CC), Walker Timme (6-7/225, F, Richardson, Texas/Pearce HS/Southern Idaho/Northern Arizona) and Tarrance Warren (6-2/175, G, Dallas, Texas/Sam Houston HS/Eastern Arizona/Barry U.).
