ANCHORAGE (Sept. 3) – Another Alaskan has joined the Alaska Anchorage men's basketball program as head coach Cameron Turner announced Thursday that former Dimond High standout Amelio Ambrosio will play for the Seawolves.

A 6-4, 175-pound wing, Ambrosio led the Lynx to the Cook Inlet Conference Tournament title with MVP honors last winter. He was an AABC First Team All-State and ASAA 4A All-State Tournament Team selection as a senior, averaging 19 points per game and winning the postseason slam-dunk contest. Ambrosio's 42 points in a January 2026 win over Eagle River tied the Dimond school record and were the most by a CIC player in five years as well.

"Amelio is the perfect final piece to our recruiting class and has a tremendous future at UAA," said Turner, who features six Alaskans on his 2026-27 roster. "He loves Alaska, understands what it means to be a Seawolf, and has a genuine desire to represent his state. Amelio is a wild stallion with tremendous upside. He's athletic, extremely coachable, picks things up at an incredible pace, and has the tools to become a special player. Our job is to develop him, challenge him, and help unlock everything that's inside of him. I believe Amelio has a chance to be the next great Alaskan Seawolf, I'm excited to watch him chase the dream."
