SILVER CITY, N.M. (Sept. 16) - Senior outside hitter Vanessa Tsukano had 11 kills and junior setter Janelle Morrisette had four kills, 14 assists, four aces and three blocks as the University of Alaska Anchorage completed a weekend sweep of Western New Mexico with a 15-7, 15-7, 15-8 victory.
Tsukano hit .409 for the match (11 kills, 2 errors, 22 attempts), while Morrisette didn't commit any attack errors in nine attempts for UAA (6-10, 2-0 Pacific West Conference). Tonia Rogers was the top hitter for WNMU (8-6, 0-2 PWC) with only five kills.
UAA hit .262 (28 kills, 7 errors, 80 attempts) for the match to WNMU's .155 (27-12-97). The Seawolves outdug the Mustangs 51-42 and put up 16 blocks to WNMU's eight.
The Seawolves return to Anchorage for matches against arch rival Alaska Fairbanks, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 22-23. Friday's match begins at 8 p.m., while first serve Saturday is at 7:05 p.m. at the Sports Center.
