Women downed 86-63 at NNU

NAMPA, Idaho (Feb. 22) - Kamie Jo Massey came just short of a triple-double as the UAA women's basketball team dropped an 86-63 decision to Northwest Nazarene at Montgomery Fieldhouse tonight.

UAA (10-12, 5-9 GNAC) got 21 points, 17 rebounds and nine assists from Massey, but NNU (15-8, 9-6) got balanced scoring as seven Crusaders scored eight points or more. Senior forward Alysson Kollmann led NNU with 17 points and eight rebounds.

Junior center Mary Aschoff was the only other offense for the Seawolves, finishing with 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Aschoff also had nine rebounds in going over 20 points for the second straight game.

Aschoff staked UAA to an early lead at 18-16, but the Crusaders answered with an 11-0 run to take control. The Seawolves cut it to 39-33 at halftime, but could get no closer in the second half.

Massey missed a triple-double by two or fewer assists for the third time this season. The junior guard blocked three shots and grabbed a steal, but she also committed nine of UAA's 30 turnovers.

The Seawolves return home for their final home series of the season next week when they host No. 1 Seattle Pacific (Thur., Feb. 27) and Central Washington (Fri., Mar. 1) in a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference games.
