HSU trips Seawolf men, 62-57

ANCHORAGE (Dec. 4) - The Seawolf men's basketball team had another rough shooting night Saturday, and visiting Humboldt State came alive in the second half to rally for a 62-57 Great Northwest Athletic Conference victory at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

Marcus Robinson and Brian Hills each scored 14 for UAA (2-5, 0-2 GNAC), but the team shot just 35 percent from the floor, including 27 percent from three-point range. HSU (4-2, 1-1) was led by a combined 27 points from bench players Will Sheufelt and Devin Peal.

The Seawolves led 29-23 at halftime and stretched it to 42-32 on Hills' fast-break layin with 13:58 left. HSU took a timeout at that point, and it seemed to stop UAA's momentum.

The Lumberjacks, the two-time defending GNAC champs, slowly cut into the lead and finally tied the game 53-53 on Sheufelt's jumper at the 5:36 mark. A Peal layin with 1:37 remaining gave HSU the lead for good as UAA missed several jump shots and wound up with only one field goal in the last seven minutes.

It was HSU's fourth straight win in Anchorage, all of them coming by five points or less.

The Seawolves will take a 2-week break for finals before hosting a pair against Multnomah (Ore.) Bible College, Dec. 17-18. Both games tip at 7:05 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
