Seawolves clip Falcons for fifth win

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jan. 30) - Dominique Ingram won on vault, and freshmen Jessica Portlock and Lauren Magiera came through with big performances Sunday to lead the Seawolves to another tight win over Air Force, 189.875-189.625, at Cadet West Gym.

UAA (5-2) won its fourth straight dual thanks to another dominating performance on beam, where it posted a winning margin of nearly a full point. It was the Seawolves' second win in three days over the Falcons (1-2), although the home team did produce Sunday's all-around titlist, senior Jessica Liegl.

Liegl outpointed UAA's Ingram 38.875-38.575 in an individual competition that was just as tight as the team one.

Ingram won the vault with a 9.725, then took second to Liegl on bars with a 9.775. UAA's two-time national champion finished the night by taking second on floor with a 9.65.

Meanwhile, Magiera tied for top honors with Liegl on beam at 9.775, equaling the 10th-best score in school history, and Portlock delivered a solid 37.950 all-around that included 9.65s on bars and floor.

Rachael Lehmkuhl sprung a career-best 9.625 on the vault, while fellow sophomore Tiffany Staton placed third on beam with a 9.65.

The Seawolves are off next week before taking on perennial Division II power Texas Woman's University in home duals Feb. 11-12.
