Gymnasts bounce TWU for fifth straight win

ANCHORAGE (Feb. 11) - Dominique Ingram won three events and the Seawolf gymnasts recorded a season-high score on uneven bars Friday in a 190.400-188.725 victory over Texas Woman's University at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

UAA (6-2) claimed its fifth straight dual win thanks to a 47.525 bars score that included first-place 9.7s by Ingram and freshman Jessica Portlock. Ingram claimed titles on vault (9.8) and floor (9.8) as well, helping the Seawolves top TWU (1-4) for the first time in six all-time meetings.

Senior Sara Randall was the meet's only all-arounder, scoring a solid 37.900 that included a third-place 9.6 on bars and a fourth-place 9.525 on vault. Fellow senior Mandy Kolosovsky competed on beam for the first time since the season-opening meet Jan. 7, and delivered UAA's best routine with a 9.6, good for third place.

The visiting Pioneers, the seven-time USAG national champions from Denton, Texas, took the top two spots on beam with a 9.675 from Rachel Goddard and a 9.625 from Brittany Abney.

The Seawolves took the lead after the first rotation by almost a full point, and maintained that advantage for the rest of the meet. UAA clinched the dual by sweeping the top three spots on floor, with Ingram, senior Amy Jones (9.675) and sophomore Tiffany Staton (9.675) leading the way.

UAA's 190.400 was the seventh-best score in school history, while the bars and floor (48.225) marks were fifth- and 10th-best, respectively.

The Seawolves and Pioneers finish their two-meet showdown Saturday at the WFSC at 7:05 p.m.
