Gymnasts floor Pioneers to earn sweep

ANCHORAGE (Feb. 12) - Dominique Ingram won the vault and several other Seawolves delivered career-best performances as the UAA gymnasts knocked off Texas Woman's University 191.350-190.625 Saturday in front of a raucous Wells Fargo Sports Complex crowd.

The Seawolves' team score, which was a season-high and the third-best total in school history, was made possible by a strong finish on floor, where they posted five scores of 9.6 or higher.

It was the second victory for UAA (7-2) over TWU (1-5) in as many nights, after entering the weekend 0-for-5 all-time against the 7-time USAG national champs.

Senior Mandy Kolosovsky put together a career-best 38.000 all-around that included a 9.675 on floor and a personal-high 9.4 on bars. Sophomore Rachael Lehmkuhl came through with a career-best 9.725 on vault, and sophomore Tiffany Staton delivered her best floor score with a 9.75.

The Seawolves - inspired by a crowd that chanted U-A-A throughout the meet and did 'the wave' - came back in the final rotation for the victory. TWU led by 0.525 after three rotations, but the Pioneers' first three beam workers suffered falls, while the Seawolves started with Jamie Burton's career-high 9.725, Staton's 9.75 and Kolosovsky's 9.675 on floor.

Ingram finished the night with a 9.8 on floor, good for second place behind TWU's Rachel Goddard (9.825). Goddard also took top honors on beam with a 9.8, edging Staton's 9.7.

TWU's Courtney Arno won on uneven bars with a 9.825, bettering UAA freshman Jessica Portlock, who scored a career-high 9.775.

The Seawolves, who have now won a school-record six straight duals, are off until Feb. 25, when they travel to the Sacramento State Invitational.
