Gymnasts deliver solid score in loss

DAVIS, Calif. (Feb. 27) - Sophomore Dominique Ingram posted UAA's highest all-around score of the season, and Jessica Portlock, Sara Randall and Tiffany Staton all came up with solid efforts as UAA finished third in a tri-meet with UC Davis and San Jose State here Sunday.


UAA (7-6) matched its third-best score of the season with 190.575, while the host Aggies won with 193.225 and SJSU had 193.000.


Ingram placed second on vault (9.75), sixth on bars (9.7) and eighth on floor (9.775) to score a 38.725, just short of Spartan gymnasts Jennifer Green (38.825) and Greta Leach (38.800) in a tight battle for the all-around title.


UAA's bars total of 47.750 was a season-high thanks also to Staton (9.625), Portlock (9.6) and Randall (9.625). Portlock finished with a 37.975 all-around, while Randall just missed her season-high score with a 37.875.


Freshman Jamie Burton equaled her career-high on floor with a 9.725, and earned a 9.7 on her first beam performance since Jan. 21. Staton (9.75) and Mandy Kolosovsky (9.675) also delivered solid scores on floor.


The Seawolves are off next weekend before hosting Division III Hamline in a pair of duals Mar. 11-12 at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex. Both meets begin at 7:05 p.m.
