ANCHORAGE (Mar. 12) - Jessica Portlock and Dominique Ingram led outstanding team performances on vault and uneven bars as the Seawolf gymnasts enjoyed a pair of historical milestones Saturday in a 191.575-184.225 victory over Hamline at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
UAA's team score was the third-highest in school history and a record for a home meet. The Seawolves also ran their dual record to 9-6, matching the 1986 school-record for wins in a season.
The meet started well on vault as UAA recorded a season-high 47.875 on the apparatus, led by Ingram (UAA season-high 9.825), Portlock (9.6) and senior Mandy Kolosvosky (9.55). Things kept getting better on bars, where Portlock's 9.85 tied for the third-best mark in school history, and Ingram's 9.75 tied for 12th. Kolosovsky earned a 9.525, and Sara Randall and Tiffany Staton both had 9.475s to help the team to a 48.075, the No. 2 all-time bars mark at UAA.
Staton took top honors on beam with a 9.675, and Ingram closed with a 9.725 to win on floor.
Portlock was one of only two all-arounders, just missing her career-high with a 38.550. Senior Sara Randall posted four scores between 9.325 and 9.475 to record a 37.600 in her final home meet.
Kristen Driscoll's 9.425 on floor was the top performance for the visiting Pipers, a Division III team from St. Paul, Minn.
The Seawolves return to the road for their final regular-season dual meet, Mar. 19 at longtime rival Seattle Pacific. After that, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships loom Mar. 26 in Davis, Calif.
