ANCHORAGE (June 16) - UAA head volleyball coach Michelle Earl announced Friday that
Meghan Koizumi, of Waimanalo, Hawaii, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Seawolves.
A 5-7 setter, Koizumi was named honorable mention all-state last season by the Honolulu Advertiser. She also earned first-team all-conference honors in the Oahu Interscholastic Association's Eastern Division.
"We are elated to add Meghan to our team," Earl said. "She is a strong all-around player who will not only train as a setter, but plays amazing defense. Her experience and talent as a hitter will also give us some much needed versatility."
Koizumi is the sixth player to join UAA this off-season, along with 5-5 freshman defensive specialist/outside hitter Pasadeanna Aukusitino (Anchorage/Service HS), setter Tehane Kahalehau (Honolulu, Hawaii/Kamehameha HS), 5-10 junior middle blocker Paepaetele Poasa (Honolulu, Hawaii/Taft [CA] College), 6-0 middle blocker Kimberly Stolk (Lakewood, Calif./Mayfair HS/Cerritos College), and 5-9 junior outside hitter/defensive specialist Jessica Velazquez (Frisco, Texas/Georgia Southwestern State).
