Former Seawolf Glencross scores goal in NHL debut

ANAHEIM, Calif. ? Former Alaska Anchorage standout Curtis Glencross scored his first-career NHL goal in his Anaheim Ducks debut Jan. 13 against the Colorado Avalanche at the Honda Center.

Glencross, who tallied 32 goals and 25 assists in two seasons with the Seawolves (2002-03, 2003-04), was called up from the Ducks' American Hockey League affiliate Portland Jan. 12, before suiting up for Anaheim and seeing 10:24 of ice time in the Ducks 3-2 shootout loss.

Glencross scored at the 5:20 mark of the first period on his first NHL shot attempt, tying the game at 1-1.

A free-agent signee of Anaheim after helping lead UAA to its first-ever WCHA Final Five appearance in 2004, Glencross had posted 5-10?15 scoring totals and 74 penalty minutes in 20 games for Portland this season.

Glencross is the sixth Seawolf to skate in an NHL game, joining Jeff Batters, Rob Conn, Gregg Naumenko, Mike Peluso and Duvie Westcott. Westcott, who played one season for UAA (1997-98) before transferring to St. Cloud State, currently plays for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
