ANCHORAGE ? Rebecca Kielpinski and Kalhie Quinones combined for 28 points and 14 rebounds Thursday to lead the 9th-ranked Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team to a 63-52 win over Saint Martin's at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
The Seawolves (15-2, 4-1 GNAC) also got nine points ? all on three-pointers ? from senior Maria Nilsson as they extended their overall home winning streak to 28 games.
Saint Martin's (9-4, 2-2) was led by guard Jamey Gelhar's 13 points, but the Saints shot just 29.6 percent from the field, including 2-of-13 shooting by Gelhar. The Seawolf defense made the difference as Kielpinski blocked six shots, the visitors from Lacey, Wash., made just 4 of 18 three-pointers.
Kielpinski was the game's high scorer with 15 points (5-9 FG, 5-7 FT), while Quinones tallied 13 points (3-4 FG, 1-1 3FG, 6-10 FT) and grabbed a pair of steals.
UAA's 15-2 record is its best ever after 17 games.
The Seawolves return to the WFSC court Saturday at 5 p.m. when they host Western Oregon (4-9, 0-4).
