ANCHORAGE - The 2010-11 University of Alaska Anchorage hockey schedule was announced Thursday by Seawolf head coach Dave Shyiak.
UAA's 34-game schedule includes 17 home dates and two in-season tournaments. The Seawolves, who will play six non-conference games against five different opponents, alternate home and road series until December and January, when they will host three back-to-back series. From there, UAA will have a back-to-back series on the road, before alternating the last three series.
The 32nd season of Seawolf hockey commences with the 19th edition of the Kendall Hockey Classic on Oct. 8-9. The Seawolves will look to regain the Classic title when they host Air Force, North Dakota and Alaska Fairbanks.
The Seawolves will head to north for the third annual Alaska Goal Rush tournament in Fairbanks on Oct. 15-16, where they face Colorado College and Union College, respectively.
The 18th season of Western Collegiate Hockey Association action for UAA begins Oct. 22-23 as it travels to Minnesota Duluth for the first of seven conference series to be played on the road. The Seawolves will also travel to new conference member, Bemidji State on Nov. 12-13, Colorado College (Nov. 26-27), Denver (Jan. 21-22), Minnesota (Jan. 28-29), and North Dakota (Feb. 11-12), before wrapping up the regular season with Minnesota State (March 4-5).
UAA's conference home series are against MSU (Oct. 29-30), St. Cloud State (Nov. 19-20), Wisconsin (Dec. 3-4), Denver (Dec. 10-11), CC (Jan. 14-15), Michigan Tech (Feb. 4-5) and newcomer Nebraska Omaha (Feb. 18-19).
For the third straight season the Seawolves will face UAF just two times in their annual Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup series, as the Alaska schools will play a home-and-home series Feb. 25 (at UAF) and Feb. 26 (at UAA).
UAA will play one exhibition game during the preseason, as it hosts the Windsor Lancers. The exhibition will be played at the Soldotna Sports Center on Oct. 2.
All Seawolf home games, with the exception of the Kendall Hockey Classic, will face off at 7:07 p.m. Full television coverage will be announced later in the fall.
