BOZEMAN, Mont. - Following the completion of Day 2 of the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association/NCAA West Regional Championships, the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves are sixth in the team standings with 477 points.
The Seawolves registered 159 points in the 15/20K freestyle and 130 points in the giant slalom for a combined 477 points. UAA also had 188 points in the 5/10 classic on Friday. Leading the league field for the second straight day was Colorado with 711, while Utah (625) and Denver (616) rounded out the top three. Montana State sits in fourth at 550 and New Mexico is fifth at 523.
At the end of four events today, UAA amassed four top-15 finishes. Leading the Seawolves was sophomore Vanessa Berther in eighth place. The Bellevue, Wash., native furnished a two-run time of one minute, 41.6 seconds for 33 points.
On the men's slope, rookie Cedrick Gagnon recorded his best finish of the season, clocking in at 1:40.58 for 15th place. A local of St. Sauveur, Quebec, Gagnon had only completed two races prior to today.
On the cross country courses at Bohart Ranch, the Seawolves were once against led by junior Lukas Ebner in the men's 20K freestyle and freshman Marine Dusser in the women's 15K freestyle. Ebner (Furtwangen, Germnay) took 10th place at 59:54.9, while Dusser (Villard de Lans, France) was 12th at 53:31.2.
The Seawolves will conclude the championships tomorrow with the men's and women's slalom at Bridger Bowl.
