Raven's Nest now open to public

Fresh off its grand-opening festivities, the University of Alaska Anchorage's Alaska Airlines Center announced Monday that its Raven's Nest walking track is now open to the public.

Located atop the balcony level of the new facility, the track will be open Monday through Friday from 7-10 a.m., noon-1 p.m., and 5-7 p.m. The Raven's Nest will be closed during all Seawolf events at the Alaska Airlines Center and on days that the arena is being prepared for concerts or other events.

There is no charge for using the track.

“This is a great addition in terms of the community offerings that will be available here at the Alaska Airlines Center,” said UAA Athletic Director Keith Hackett. “We hope that our friends in the U-Med district and beyond will take advantage of this fitness opportunity on those cold winter days. Of course, we are extremely grateful to our friends at Skinny Raven for their generosity in helping fund this feature of the facility.”

The track is a Mondo surface and is approximately 0.15 miles (7 laps/mile in outside lane; 7.25 laps/mile in inside lane) in length.
