FRANKFURT, Germany – Former Alaska Anchorage men's basketball standout Kyle Fossman has signed the first contract of his professional career, inking last week with the Fraport Skyliners in the German Budesliga's junior (ProB) division.
In addition to his club's 22-game schedule – which begins Sept. 28 – Fossman will also have the opportunity to play up to five games with the Skyliners' BBL (top division) squad.
“Kyle is a very good shooter who can play either guard position and has a high intelligence for the game,” said Skyliners ProB head coach Eric Detlev. “In addition, he is a good guy and brings a great attitude to the team.”
The 6-foot guard from Haines was an All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference performer at UAA, breaking the program's three-point shooting records in virtually every category from 2010-14. Last season Fossman averaged 17.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, shooting 45 percent from long range and 83 percent at the free-throw line.
“We are extremely happy for Kyle,” said UAA head coach Rusty Osborne. “It has always been a dream of his to play professionally, and now he has a terrific opportunity with a well-respected, stable club. With his work ethic, I'm sure he'll be successful.”
