Lions claw Pioneers for first victory

ANCHORAGE – Saint Leo outside hitters Tawni Warren and Lauren Campbell combined for 25 kills Saturday to lift their team to its first win of the season with a 26-24, 25-20, 25-23 sweep of LIU Post in the SpringHill Suites Invitational volleyball tournament at the Alaska Airlines Center.

The Lions (1-2) got a double-double from Campbell, who finished with 11 kills and 12 digs, while Warren smashed 14 kills.

The Pioneers (1-3) were led by eight kills from outside hitter Analise Austin as the reigning NCAA Div. II East Region champions suffered their third straight loss.

Setter Rachel Olliff finished with 23 assists, 10 digs, two kills and two aces for the winners from the Sunshine State Conference, who avenged Friday's 3-2 loss to LIU Post.

Saint Leo returns to the court at 7 p.m. for the tournament's finale against host Alaska Anchorage.
