ANCHORAGE – After 19 seasons as the voice of Alaska Anchorage Seawolf Hockey, broadcaster Kurt Haider is moving on to continue his career with Anchorage's local professional franchise, the Alaska Aces. The Aces made the announcement Tuesday.
“Kurt Haider will always be linked to Seawolf Hockey,” said UAA athletic director Keith Hackett. “He is one of the best announcers I have ever worked with. He is first class in all that he does. We will miss hearing him on our broadcasts, but wish him and his family the very best.”
Haider, who called the games via iHeart Radio's KTZN and KENI, joined the Seawolves in 1996-97 and called a total of 689 games for UAA. Haider, originally from St. Cloud, Minn., only missed one series throughout his tenure with the Seawolves on Feb. 8-9, 2013 (UAA at Michigan Tech) due to a medical issue.
