EAGLE RIVER – Scott Patterson and Christy Martin defended their respective titles in near-record times Saturday in the 32nd annual Crow Pass Crossing, presented by Subway.

Patterson earned his fourth men's crown in five years, finishing in 2 hours, 58 minutes, 26.9 seconds to defeat two-time champion Eric Strabel by more than four minutes in the 24-mile wilderness race from Girdwood to the Eagle River Nature Center.

With his victory, Patterson joins Michael Graham (5), Bill Spencer (4) and Geoff Roes (4) as the fourth four-time men's winner in race history. His time of 2:58:26.9 ranks fourth-best, trailing only two performances by Roes (including record 2:54:44 in 2010) and his own time of 2:56:13 from last year.

Meanwhile, Marvin became the fourth three-time champion in in women's Crow Pass history, along with Nancy Pease (9), Kjerstin Lastufka (3) and Kiersten Lippman (3). Marvin's time of 3:29:32.6 was fifth-best all-time, behind three marks by Pease (record 3:26:20 in 1990) and her own 3:26:44 from 2014. She outdistanced runner-up Caitlin Patterson by nearly 15 minutes, while former University of Alaska Anchorage cross country standout Katie Krehlik finished third in 3:44:39.

Produced by UAA Athletics, the race goes approximately 24 miles along the Crow Pass Trail, from just north of Girdwood to the Eagle River Nature Center. There is a total gradient of 5,959 feet, with a peak elevation gain of 3,888 feet.
