ELLENSBURG, WASH. – John Peckham and Vivien Liessfeld each won titles for the University of the Alaska Anchorage at the GNAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Monday.
John Peckham won the steeplechase in 8:55.44, the fourth-fastest time in school history and eighth-fastest in conference history.
Vivien Liessfeld, who won the heptathlon, won the long jump with a mark of 5.79/19-0.
Mya Campbell earned All-GNAC honors with a third-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.53/18-1.75.
Sarah Dittman finished sixth with a jump of 5.42/17-9.5.
Tyler Drake earned All-GNAC honors in the long jump with a mark of 7.04/23-1.25, the fifth-best mark in school history.
Tobin Schmidtke finished sixth a jump of 6.86/22-6.25, 10th-best in school history.
The Seawolves scored points in the 10,000 thanks to Edgar Vera who finished fifth (32:34.78) and Ben Browning who placed sixth (32:35.78).
"UAA is out here competing," said head coach Ryan McWilliams. "We are a small team, but our presence at this meet is being felt. And I expect this group to do the same tomorrow."
UAA had seven Seawolves qualify for the finals in the hurdle events. Liv Heite will be the top-seed in the 100 hurdles (13.89) and third in the 400 hurdles (1:02.41).
Blanca De Arvizu Sarrias qualified for the finals in both the 100 (14.46) and 400 hurdles (1:06.08).
Vivien Liessfeld qualified for the finals of the 100 hurdles (14.87), and Avery Campbell qualified in the 400 hurdles (1:05.37).
Anders Larsen ran the second-fastest time in school history (14.70) to qualify for the finals of the 110 hurdles.
Jessica Chisar qualified as the second seed in the 800 after running 2:12.69.
Riday Jana qualified for the finals in both the 100 (10.55) and the 200 (21.49). His 200 time ranks third all-time.
Jason Lorig qualified for the finals of the 100 with a time of 10.54, the fourth-fastest in school history.
The women are third and the men are fifth out of nine teams after seven of 21 events.
The GNAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships conclude Tuesday.
