BOZEMAN, MONT. – Alaska Anchorage had a Seawolf on the podium for the second straight day after Liam Wallace finished second in the RMISA Qualifier giant slalom.
Wallace was in sixth place after the first run (46.89) and ripped off the fastest time on run two (44.85) to move to second with a time of 1:31.74. He finished 0.49 seconds behind Utah's Addison Dvoracek who won in a time of 1:31.25.
"I think we saw what Liam is capable of today," said head coach Sparky Anderson. "Putting himself in position and then winning the second run. The guys took their shots today." "Georgia helped herself today with an 8th place which puts her on track to qualify for NCAA Championships. The rest of our women went hard, but it was an unforgiving hill and the smallest mistake proved to be costly. I'm excited to move into Slalom and then get back home to train."
Didrik Nilsen and Michael Soetaert both cracked the top-20 finishing 16th (1:33.73) and 20th (1:35.22).
Georgia Burgess led three women in the top-20 finishing eighth (1:39.91).
Li Djurestaal was 17th (1:41.18), and Kristina Natalenko was 20th (1:42.96).
"Georgia helped herself today with an eighth place which puts her on track to qualify for the NCAA Championships," said Anderson. "The rest of our women went hard, but it was an unforgiving hill and the smallest mistake proved to be costly. I'm excited to move into slalom and then get back home to train."
Other finishes for the men included Tony Naciuk 25th (1:36.00), Dominic Unterberger 26th (1:36.53) and Martins Onskulis 28th (1:39.50).
