Skiers compete in sprints

CRAFTSBURY, VT. – JC Schoonmaker of Alaska Anchorage advanced to the quarterfinals of the classic sprints at the 2019 US National Nordic Skiing Championships Friday.

Schoonmaker tied for 16th in the qualifying heats with a time of 3:26. He finished third in his quarterfinal heat but failed to advance to the semifinals.

Tracen Knopp placed 54th (3:35) and Austin Huneck was 189th in qualifying (3:52).

Casey Wright was the top finisher for the women placing 68th in qualifying in a time of 4:18.

Hanna Rudd was one-second behind in 69th place.

Jenna diFolco finished 106th (4:28), and Anna Darnell was 154th (4:36).

The Seawolves will compete in the freestyle races Sunday.
