Seawolves sign speedy California hurdler

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – University of Alaska Anchorage head track and field coach Ryan McWilliams has announced that Collin Hurd has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Seawolves for the 2021 season.

"We are excited to add someone as talented as Collin to the program," said head coach Ryan McWilliams. "He proved in high school to be one of the best 300 hurdlers in the state of California and based off his freshman campaign at Saddleback Community College, we believe he can be a national caliber 400m hurdler at UAA."

Hurd qualified for the California Community College Athletic Association state meet in the 400 hurdles with a time of 54.61. He ran personal-best of 37.70 in the 300 hurdles and 14.63 in the 110 hurdles at Trabuco Hills High School in Mission Viejo, California.

"I chose UAA because of the unique justice department and also to continue my track career on an incredible team," said Hurd, who is a member of the Orange County Sheriff Explorers Program.

Hurd made the Dean's List as a freshman at Saddleback Community College, and his older brother Cameron is a member of the track and field team at the Naval Academy.
