Pantovic, Karlberg selected to Preseason All-GNAC Team

PORTLAND, Ore. – A week away from their first exhibition contest, the Alaska Anchorage men's basketball team reeled in its first individual honors of the 2021-22 season as senior Oggie Pantovic and junior Tobin Karlberg were named Thursday to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Team.

A 6-9 forward from Kovin, Serbia, Pantovic was the lone player to rank in the league's top 10 in both scoring and rebounding in 2019-20, averaging 15.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. The First Team All-GNAC performer also finished fourth in the league with his .583 field-goal percentage as a junior, scoring double figures in the final 19 contests. He helped the Seawolves to a 20-14 record two years ago as they advanced to the GNAC Tournament title game.

A 6-foot guard from Anchorage, Karlberg was the Seawolves' third-leading scorer with 12.9 points per game in 2019-20. The former Grace Christian High School star was the league's second-leading three-point shooter at .509, while his 2.5-to-1 assist-turnover ratio ranked sixth in the conference. Karlberg begins his junior season with his .471 career three-point percentage as the second-best in program history.

The Preseason All-GNAC Team is determined by a vote of the league's 10 head coaches.

The Seawolves make their debut Oct. 29 with the Green & Gold intrasquad game and Nov. 6 with the Seawolf Alumni exhibition at the Alaska Airlines Center, before beginning the regular season with three games in Hawaii, Nov. 13-16. UAA makes its regular-season home debut Nov. 19-20 against Lincoln Christian. For the complete schedule and ticket information, surf to GoSeawolves.com.
