KETCHUM, IDAHO – JC Schoonmaker led the University of Alaska Anchorage ski team with a fifth-place finish in the 15-kilometer classic race at the Montana State Invite Sunday.
Schoonmaker covered the course in a time of 37:57. Bernhard Flaschberger of Denver won the race in 37:18.
Espen Persen finished 12th (39:11), and Derek Dueling was 16th (39:24). Peter Hinds placed 21st (40:17), and Magnus Noroey was 24th (41:34).
Pascale Paradis led the UAA women for the second race in a row finishing 10th in the 10-kilometer race in 33:22.
Astrid Stav was 13th (34:03), Tuva Bygrave 17th (34:28) and Tuva Granoeien was 29th (37:42).
Novie McCabe of Utah won the women's race in 30:42.
After the Nordic half of the MSU Invite, Utah leads with 404 points. UAA is currently fifth with 254 points.
The UAA ski team will compete in the alpine portion of the Utah Invite Jan. 18-20.
