SCOUTING REPORT: NCCAA foe Portland Bible comes north with an 0-9 mark, having dropped its most recent contests Dec. 16-17 at UAF ... Alaska Fairbanks comes south with four wins in its last five outings, including a split of its GNAC openers against Seattle Pacific (W, 64-56) and MSU Billings (L, 64-59) Dec. 1 & 3 ... the Nanooks are led by Abdullahi Mohamed (12.9 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 2.0 apg, .551 FG, .714 FT) and Tyler Mrus (11.6 ppg, 4.8 rpg, .548 FG, .500 3FG, .867 FT).

LAST TIME OUT: The Seawolves suffered a pair of narrow home losses in their GNAC openers Dec. 1 against Montana State Billings (81-77, OT) and Dec. 3 against Seattle Pacific (90-87) at the Alaska Airlines Center ... in the first contest, Jr. G Dathan Satchell tallied a career-high 19 points (7-9 FG, 5-7 3FG) and Jr. F Jaedon Bradley had 16 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists, but the Yellowjackets nailed a three-pointer in the final seconds of regulation and went on to the overtime victory ... Sr. PG Da'Zhon Wyche had 15 points and 3 assists in the setback, while Jr. F Sawyer Storms and So. G Lachlan Viney had 10 points apiece ... against the Falcons, Wyche tallied 27 points (12-24 FG) and 8 assists, but the visitors again prevailed in the final seconds, outshooting UAA .635 to .547 ... Sr. G AJ Garrity had 16 points (5-5 FG, 1-1 3FG, 5-5 FT) and Storms added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the loss.
 
'WOLF BITES: Sr. G Da'Zhon Wyche has shown the scoring touch that earned him nearly 1,500 career points at his previous collegiate stops, averaging a team-high 17.2 points in his first nine games in Green & Gold ... the former West Anchorage HS star ranks 3rd in the GNAC stats in scoring, 3rd in assists (5.0 apg, 25th nationally) and 2nd in A/T ratio (3.5, 12th nationally), plus a league-leading 2.4 steals per game (19th nationally) ... Jr. G Sawyer Storms has been a consistent force since transfering from regional rival Chaminade, producing double-figure scoring in seven of nine outings, including 23 points in the win over Westminster ... the Idaho native ranks 16th in scoring (12.0 ppg) and 10th in FG% (.560) in the GNAC stats, while leading UAA with 4.6 rebounds per game ... Sr. G AJ Garrity leads the GNAC with a blazing .846 (11-13) 3FG% ... the SoCal native has gone 6 of 6 from deep over the last five games, with two-game totals of 15 points (4-4 FG, 3-3 3FG, 4-5 FT), 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 5 steals and no turnovers in UAA's wins over Westminster and TAMIU in Fairbanks ... Jr. F Jaedon Bradley has premiered with double-figure scoring in his six of his first nine games as a Seawolf, including 16 points against MSUB ... the CSU-Pueblo transfer ranks 2nd in the GNAC in FT% (.864), 7th in 3FG% (.457) and 12th in 3FGs per game (1.8) ... other Seawolves among the current GNAC leders include Jr. G Jaron Williams at 5th in A/T ratio (2.5) and 13th in steals (1.3 spg),  Jr. G Dathan Satchell at 8th in 3FGs per game (2.1) and 14th in 3FG% (.395), and So. G Lachlan Viney at 15th in steals (1.2 spg).
 
TEAM NOTES: UAA leads the GNAC stats with a +7.8 turnover margin, a 1.5 assist/turnover ratio and 9.0 steals per game, along with top-3 ranks in 3FGs per game (9.8) and assists per game (16.9) ... the Seawolves hold top-40 national ranks in seven statistical categories, including top-25 marks in turnover margin (4th), turnovers forced per game (9th, 19.1), A/T ratio (13th) and assists per game (25th) ...   this year's club is aiming for the 16th winning record in the program's last 17 seasons (the other was .500) and the 37th in 45 seasons of program history ... UAA also boasts 32 winning league records in 40 years of conference play, including 16 of 20 years in the GNAC.
 
TRUST IN RUSTY: In his 18th season (19th year) at the helm, head coach Rusty Osborne (318-194) has now led the Seawolves to 15 straight seasons of .500-plus records, along with five NCAA Tournaments and a trip to the 2008 NCAA D-II Semifinals … the longest tenured coach in program history and in the GNAC, he became the first UAA basketball coach to reach 200 career victories when the Seawolves beat Alaska Fairbanks on Jan. 10, 2015 … Osborne captured his first career GNAC and NABC West District coach-of-the-year awards in 2008 after becoming the second coach to lead UAA to three consecutive NCAA berths (2006-08), and in 2011-12 his Seawolves posted a 24-10 record to equal the 2nd-most victories in program history; Osborne's 2007-08 club holds that record with a 29-6 mark … before taking over the head job in 2004-05, the Texas native previously served 13 seasons (1991-04) as a UAA assistant, including 11 years as the top assistant … the Seawolves have won over 60 percent of their games with Osborne on the staff, claiming four conference titles and eight trips to the NCAA Division II Tournament ... Osborne is assisted by associate head coach Ryan Orton (8th season/9th year), Jalon McCullough (2nd season) and volunteer assistant Ryan Engebretsen (2nd season/3rd year).
