Seawolves dodge Arrows for 108-36 blowout win

ANCHORAGE – Junior forward Jaron Williams scored a career-high 19 points to lead a balanced scoring effort for Alaska Anchorage on Wednesday in a 108-36 men's basketball victory over Portland Bible at the Alaska Airlines Center.

The Seawolves (5-5) got at least five points from all 10 active players as they outrebounded the visitors 52-19 and forced 34 turnovers.

The Arrows (0-10) were led by 12 points from forward James Kreamier.

Sophomore guard Lachlan Viney scored 12 of his 17 points in the first half for UAA, which equaled the fourth-largest margin of victory in program history and set a Great Northwest Athletic Conference record by holding Portland Bible to just 32 field-goal attempts. The Arrows' nine field-goal makes also tied for the fewest allowed in league history.

Williams shot 7 of 12 from the field and added seven rebounds, two assists, no turnovers and three steals as the East Anchorage High School product set or tied career bests in three categories.

Viney shot 7 of 13 from the field with six rebounds, three assists and four steals, while fellow reserve Evan Hoosier came off the bench for career highs of 12 points (6-8 FG) and eight rebounds.

Tyson Gilbert scored 11 points, and the Seawolves got 10 points apiece from Sawyer Storms and AJ Garrity.

The Seawolves and Arrows meet for a rematch Thursday, before UAA returns to Great Northwest Athletic Conference action with a New Year's Eve tilt against Alaska Fairbanks.
