HOME STRETCH AWAITS: The Alaska Anchorage men's basketball team heads into the final month of the regular season with a pair of home games against Northwest Nazarene and Central Washington, tipping at 7 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Alaska Airlines Center ... SCOUTING REPORT: Northwest Nazarene went 4-3 in January, including an impressive 78-62 home win over Seattle Pacific on Saturday, to get back into the thick of the GNAC Tournament race ... from Nampa, Idaho, the Nighthawks are led by Tru Allen (12.9 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.0 apg, 2.0 spg, .689 FT) and Gabriel Murphy (11.6 ppg, 9.0 rpg, .571 FG) ... after starting 4-10, Central Washington went on a five-game winning streak until a last-second 70-69 loss to league leader MSU Billings on Saturday ... the Wildcats, from Ellensburg, Wash., are led by Camron McNeil (14.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.6 apg, .400 3FG) and Matt Poquette (12.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.7 apg, .544 FG).

Jr. G Caleb Larsen matched his career high with 16 points (5-9 3FG), along with 3 assists and 2 steals, while Sr. G AJ Garrity equaled his season high with 16 points (5-8 FG, 4-6 3FG) as UAA lost despite nailing a season-high 17 three-pointers on .515 accuracy ... Jr. F Jaedon Bradley and Jr. G Dathan Satchell scored 11 points apiece, and Jr. G/F Jaron Williams had 6 rebounds and a career-high 5 assists.
 
'WOLF BITES: Jr. G Sawyer Storms has been a consistent force since transfering from regional rival Chaminade, producing double-figure scoring 11 times, including 23 points in the win over Westminster and 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting in the win at Central Washington ... the Idaho native is averaging 10.1 ppg, along with GNAC ranks of 7th in steals (1.5 spg), 6th in FG% (.556), 11th in blocks (0.8 bpg) and 13th in assists (2.6 apg) ... Sr. G AJ Garrity ranks 3rd in the GNAC with a .522 3FG%, along with sterling marks of .590 FG% and .800 FT% ... the SoCal native went 6 of 6 from deep over a 5-game stretch Nov. 14-Dec. 3, with two-game totals of 15 points (4-4 FG, 3-3 3FG, 4-5 FT), 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 5 steals and no turnovers in UAA's wins over Westminster and TAMIU in Fairbanks ... coming off two seasons on the sidelines due to an Achilles' injury and heart surgery, Jr. G Tyson Gilbert has begun to hit his stride, averaging 13.2 ppg since re-entering the starting lineup five games ago ... the Colorado State-Pueblo transfer is UAA's second-leading scorer in GNAC play with 10.2 ppg, boosted by 18 points against WWU and 12 points in the win over SFU ... Gilbert ranks 11th in the league with 1.8 3FGs per game ... Jr. G Dathan Satchell has begun to show the form that made him all-conference performer at Las Positas (Calif.) College, tallying 62 points over the last four contests and ranking as UAA's leader with 11.2 ppg in GNAC play ... boosted by a career-high 23 points at Saint Martin's, Satchell ranks 3rd in the GNAC with 2.4 3FGs per game, posting multiple treys in 11 of his 15 appearances ... other Seawolves among the current GNAC leaders include Jr. G Jaron Williams at 4th in steals (1.6 spg) and 4th in A/T ratio (2.6), Jr. F Jaedon Bradley at 7th in FT% (.829), and So. G Lachlan Viney at 10th in steals (1.4 spg), 16th in FG% (.523) and 15th in assists (2.4 apg).
 
TEAM NOTES: The Seawolves rank among the top 20 in five NCAA Div. II national stats categories, including No. 2 in both turnover margin (+9.3) and turnovers forced per game (20.7) ... UAA is also 4th in steals per game (10.8), 12th in assist/turnover ratio (1.5) and 18th in assists per game (17.1), along with top-50 ranks of 24th in 3FGs per game (9.8), 28th in fewest turnovers per game (11.4) and 35th in scoring margin (+9.4) ... UAA leads the GNAC stats in turnover margin, A/T ratio, steals and assists ... this year's club is aiming for the 16th winning record in the program's last 17 seasons (the other was .500) and the 37th in 45 seasons of program history ... UAA also boasts 32 winning league records in 40 years of conference play, including 16 of 20 years in the GNAC.
 
TRUST IN RUSTY: In his 18th season (19th year) at the helm, head coach Rusty Osborne (323-199) has now led the Seawolves to 15 straight seasons of .500-plus records, along with five NCAA Tournaments and a trip to the 2008 NCAA D-II Semifinals … the longest tenured coach in program history and in the GNAC, he became the first UAA basketball coach to reach 200 career victories when the Seawolves beat Alaska Fairbanks on Jan. 10, 2015 … Osborne captured his first career GNAC and NABC West District coach-of-the-year awards in 2008 after becoming the second coach to lead UAA to three consecutive NCAA berths (2006-08), and in 2011-12 his Seawolves posted a 24-10 record to equal the 2nd-most victories in program history; Osborne's 2007-08 club holds that record with a 29-6 mark … before taking over the head job in 2004-05, the Texas native previously served 13 seasons (1991-04) as a UAA assistant, including 11 years as the top assistant … the Seawolves have won over 60 percent of their games with Osborne on the staff, claiming four conference titles and eight trips to the NCAA Division II Tournament ... Osborne is assisted by associate head coach Ryan Orton (8th season/9th year), Jalon McCullough (2nd season) and volunteer assistant Ryan Engebretsen (2nd season/3rd year).
