ROMEOVILLE, ILL. – Cole Nash of the University of Alaska Anchorage finished 10th among some of the strongest runners in the nation at the Lewis Crossover Saturday.
Nash covered the eight-kilometer course in 24:15, and Michael Zapherson finished 16th in a time of 24:27.
George Payne placed 48th (24:57), Zach Kohler 68th (25:11) and John Peckham 92nd (25:19).
The UAA men finished sixth out of 31 teams.
Nell Baker was the top finisher for the Seawolf women placing 28th in a time of 21:57 over the six-kilometer course.
Tressa Wood was 129th (23:19), Avery Williamson 169th (23:40), Sofija Spaic 190th (23:59) and Aunika Miller 243rd (24:48).
The UAA women finished 24th out of 33 teams.
"We took some lumps but competed well today," said head coach Ryan McWilliams. "We came up a little short of what we wanted to accomplish out of this meet, but we learned some good things about ourselves as well. Even with everything not going our way, we competed well and hard in both races and are feeling confident going into this championship portion of the season."
UAA will host the GNAC Cross Country Championships at Kincaid Park Oct. 21st.
