PORTLAND, Ore. – Led by a 3.77 grade-point average from senior
Kimani Fernandez, the Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team placed four student-athletes on the Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, presented by Barnes & Noble, announced Wednesday by the league office.
A fifth-year psychology major from Wailuku, Hawaii, Fernandez was joined on the academic squad by senior teammates
Jahnna Hajdukovich (3.49, health sciences, Anchorage/Dimond HS),
Nicole Pinckney (3.45, natural sciences) and
Rachel Ingram (3.32, dietetics, Colorado Springs, Colo.). Fernandez, Hajdukovich and Ingram all earned the honor for a third straight season, while Pinckney earned her second award.
A total of 55 student-athletes from the GNAC's 10 institutions made this year's academic squad.
To qualify for the GNAC All-Academic Teams, presented by Barnes & Noble College, nominees must be of sophomore eligibility or greater, have a minimum cumulative GPA or 3.20 or greater, be a letterwinner on her team, and must be in her second year at the nominating institution.
