ANCHORAGE (May 22) – The Alaska Anchorage women's basketball program added another versatile junior-college transfer to its lineup Monday as head coach
Ryan McCarthy announced that
Jaisa Gamble has signed a scholarship agreement with the Seawolves.
A 6-foot forward, Gamble averaged 9.1 points on 51 percent shooting, along with 6.0 rebounds, 2.3 assist and 3.2 steals per game at Laney College in Oakland, Calif., in 2022-23. The San Bruno, Calif., native scored double figures in seven of her 14 games with the Eagles, teaming with fellow UAA signee Kya Pearson to help Laney to a 23-6 overall record and the Bay Valley Conference title at 14-0.
"We are very excited to add Jaisa to our basketball family for this next season," said McCarthy. "She has exceptional length and can play multiple positions. She had a very successful year at her junior college, playing for one of the best coaches in California. We think her strengths as a player will shine in our system and her activity level makes everyone on the floor better. We cannot wait to get her on the floor and watch her impact our program."
Gamble played at Div. I program UC San Diego as a freshman in 2021-22, seeing action in one contest. Prior to losing her senior campaign at Capuchino High School to the pandemic, she earned First Team All-PAL and team MVP honors as a junior in 2019-20, averaging 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists per game.
Gamble becomes the seventh member of UAA's 2023 recruiting class, joining fellow transfers
Ja'Niah Alexander (5-10, G, Rex, Ga./McDonough HS/Indian River State College),
AJ Allard (5-11, G/F, North Charleston, S.C./Fort Dorchester HS/Richard Bland College),
Tori Hollingshead (6-2, F/C, Orem, Utah/Umpqua CC),
Kya Pearson (5-7, G, Oakland, Calif./Oakland HS/Laney College) and
