Jada Niles led a historic performance on uneven bars to propel the Alaska Anchorage gymnastics team to a season-high 191.125 score Friday at the Bridgeport quad meet at Wheeler Recreation Center.
The Seawolves' uneven bars total of 48.675 was seventh-best in program history and second-best in a regular-season road meet, helping them to second place in the four-way competition. Host Bridgeport won with 193.550, while UAA defeated Ursinus (190.025) and Rhode Island College (188.425).
"We're excited for our season high and glad that we keep seeing continuous improvement," said UAA head coach
Marie-Sophie Boggasch. "We're looking forward to having another chance on Sunday to put all four events together in one meet."
Sophomore
Ariana DeSouza posted UAA's best three-event effort, starting with a team-high 9.725 on floor exercise, adding a 9.5 on vault in the second rotation, and capping her evening with a 9.525 on balance beam.
UAA took control of second place in the third rotation on bars, led by Walker's runner-up and career-high-tying 9.8. A redshirt freshman from Mississauga, Ontario, Niles delivered a 9.75 in the first counting routine of her career. Sophomore

Claudia Lessig scored respective personal bests of 9.725 and 9.675, and senior
Jessica Johnson earned 9.65 to round out the scoring.
The Seawolves finished with a 47.775 total on beam, led by Lessig's career-high 9.75 and a 9.65 from sophomore
Paola Ruano Barahona.
UAA makes the short drive to Providence, R.I., to face Brown University in a dual meet Sunday at 9 a.m. Alaska Standard Time. The meet will be streamed on ESPN-Plus.
