ANCHORAGE (Aug. 5) – The Alaska Anchorage gymnastics program will welcome five newcomers for the 2027 season as head coach Marie-Sophie Boggasch unveiled her team's roster for the upcoming campaign Wednesday.
Four of the Seawolves' newcomers are incoming freshmen, while Fisk transfer
Aiyana Thomas will be a junior in eligibility.
2027 UAA Gymnastics Newcomers
Callee Botts
Lee's Summit, Mo. (Lee's Summit West HS / Pure Gymnastics)
Botts competed three years at Level 10, including her junior and senior seasons for Pure Gymnastics, qualifying all three seasons for the Region 3 Championships. She also excelled at the Kansas State Championships three straight years, finishing top-3 in her beam session each time. Botts competed for Diamond Gymnastics as a sophomore, earning gold on beam at the 2024 Kansas state meet.
Coach Boggasch says: "Callee is a talented all-around gymnast with beautiful beam work and remarkable consistency throughout her Level 10 career. From our very first conversation, she was a natural fit for our program, and we're excited to see the impact she'll have as a Seawolf."
Georgina Gibson
Leeds, England (St. John Fisher Catholic HS / Harrogate GC)
A two-time British Championships qualifier, Gibson placed seven on vault at the 2026 English Championships, while placing top-12 on vault and floor at the 2025 national meet. She won on vault at the 2025 Yorkshire Gold Qualifiers as well, and placed top-12 on both vault and floor at the 2025 English Championships. Gibson earned her career-high 46.750 all-around (international scale) at the 2025 Rushmoor Rosebowl.
Coach Boggasch says: "Georgina is an accomplished international athlete whose determination throughout the recruiting process left a lasting impression on our staff. Her powerful vaulting, competitive experience and unwavering belief that Alaska was where she belonged make her an outstanding addition to our program."
Elena Markley
North Bend, Wash. (Meadowbrook HS / Pacific Reign Gymnastics)
Markley competed her final two high school-age seasons at Level 10 for Pacific Reign Gymnastics, qualifying for L10 Nationals in 2025 and 2026. She medaled on beam eight times in 2025 and 2026, including gold at the 2025 Cascadian Team Challenge and silver with a career-high 9.6 at the 2026 Seattle Next Era meet. Markley placed third in her vault and beam sessions at the 2026 Region 2 Championships and tallied a career-high 37.050 all-around at the 2026 USAGWA Developmental State Championships.
Coach Boggasch says: "Elena is an exceptional all-around gymnast with a dynamic 10.0 start-value vault and the ability to make an impact across multiple events. Long before her recruiting process officially began, Elena knew Alaska Anchorage was where she wanted to continue her gymnastics career, and we're thrilled to welcome her to the Seawolf family."
Aiyana Thomas
Fremont, Calif. (American HS / Pacific West Gymnastics)
Thomas comes north after competing her first two collegiate seasons at Fisk University in Tennessee. The Californian contributed to Fisk's uneven bars lineup in every meet in 2025, tallying season-bests of 9.475 on bars and 9.5 on vault.
Coach Boggasch says: "After the unfortunate discontinuation of the gymnastics program at Fisk University, we are grateful Aiyana chose to continue her collegiate career with us. She brings valuable NCAA experience, beautiful line work on bars, and a resilient mindset, and we look forward to everything she'll bring to our program."
Giorgia Wilson
Toronto, Ontario (Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute / Gemini Gymnastics)
Wilson contributed to Team Ontario's runner-up finish at the Iceland Classic international competition in 2026, placing first in the beam qualifications (12.250) and finals (12.300), and placing sixth in the floor finals. She was seventh on beam and 10th on vault at the 2026 Ontario Provincial Championships, while earning silver on beam and fifth all-around in her group at the 2024 Ontario Provincial Championships.
Coach Boggasch says: "Giorgia is a beautifully artistic gymnast whose elegance and attention to detail, especially on beam, make her stand out. Her bubbly personality, positive energy and love for performing will make her a wonderful addition to our team, and we're excited to welcome her to Alaska."
