SAN MARCOS, Texas (Aug. 26) – The Alaska Anchorage gymnastics team continued its historic run in the classroom in the 2025-26 academic year, finishing as the national runner-up in combined grade-point average in the Women's Gymnastics Coaches Association's annual team academic rankings.

With a 3.8476 mark, the Seawolves finished in the top five of the GPA rankings for the fourth time in five years, including No. 1 in 2023-24 and 2024-25.

UAA finished only behind Utah State (3.8916) among the 86 NCAA institutions that sponsor women's gymnastics, while edging Texas Woman's (3.8421), Hamline (3.8331) and Kentucky (3.8326). The Seawolves were one of just four teams to have their 100 percent of its roster – 20 of 20 student-athletes – achieve a 3.5 or better, including nine 4.0s (Maribelle Albert, Hannah Boyd, Audrey Guess, Madison Jordan, Claudia Lessig, Kacey Pratley, Maria Jose Prieto, Avery Tillmanns and Verena Wong).

"We are incredibly proud of the consistency our student-athletes continue to show in the classroom," said UAA head coach Marie-Sophie Boggasch, whose team produced a national-record 3.8950 GPA last year. "Sustaining this level of academic excellence year after year takes tremendous commitment from our entire program, and having every student-athlete on our roster earn Scholastic All-America honors makes this recognition especially meaningful. Our student-athletes continue to embrace the standards we set together and demonstrate what it means to be a Seawolf gymnast ."
