ANCHORAGE – Dimitry Kebreau scored his first career goal for Alaska Anchorage in a 4-1 loss to No. 1 Denver Sunday at the Avis Alaska Sports Complex.
Ryan Johnson and Joey Potter each assisted on the goal for their second points of the weekend.
"I thought we had a better effort tonight," said head coach Matt Shasby. "I was encouraged with what I saw in some areas and am looking forward to taking what we learned and applying it moving forward. Orosz had another exceptional effort."
James Reeder opened the scoring for the Pioneers scoring the game's first goal at 8:04 of the first period.
The Pioneers scored two goals in the second period, the first on the powerplay by Carter King at 1:25 and the second even-strength by Samu Salminen at 11:12.
Aidan Thompson scored the final DU goal at 9:59 of the third period.
Dimitry Kebreau scored his first goal of the season with 1:18 remaining in the third period.
Greg Orosz made 32 saves in his second straight start for the Seawolves.
Denver out-shot Anchorage 36-25, and finished 1-for-4 on the powerplay. UAA was scoreless on its five chances.
Alaska Anchorage (0-2-0) will play at Miami (Ohio) Oct. 11-12.
