Alaska Volleyball Day highlights 2024 slate

ANCHORAGE (June 6) – The Alaska Anchorage volleyball team will take the Alaska Airlines Center court 10 times in 2024 – including another pack-the-house record-breaking attempt – as head coach Stacie Meisner announced her team's schedule for the upcoming season Thursday.

A major highlight of this year's schedule comes Nov. 16, when the Seawolves will team with the Alaska School Activities Association to co-host the inaugural Alaska Volleyball Day. Following the day's ASAA state championship high school matches, UAA will cap the evening by hosting rival Alaska Fairbanks at 7:30 p.m. The event will feature half-price tickets and several promotional giveaways as the Seawolves attempt to reestablish the NCAA Div. II regular-season attendance record, which currently stands at 4,003.

"We are excited to partner this year with ASAA to bring a whole day of championship-level volleyball to Alaska Airlines Center," said Meisner, whose program set the D-II regular-season attendance record with 3,888 fans in November 2022. "Nebraska-Kearney took the record back from us last year, so we are promoting the mantra of 'Pack the House – 4K4 In the Door' for our match against UAF. We're extremely excited about our team this year and look forward to giving our fans reasons to cheer on Nov. 16 and throughout the season."

UAA will open with its annual exhibition match against the Seawolf Alumni on Aug. 24, featuring free admission. Following four weeks on the road to start the regular season, the Seawolves make their regular-season home debut Sept. 26 against Saint Martin's (free schedule posters) and Sept. 28 against Western Oregon (Pink Night, presented by Aurora Integrated Oncology Foundation and the American Cancer Society).

The Seawolves host Northwest Nazarene on Oct. 10 and play Central Washington two days later for its homecoming match (free admission for UAA alumni), followed by tilts against Seattle Pacific on Halloween and Montana State Billings on Nov. 2.

Riding the momentum from Alaska Volleyball Day, the Seawolves will partner with Premera Blue Cross to welcome thousands of local 5th-grade students for its 'ASD Digs Higher Education' matinee against Western Washington on Nov. 21. Senior night is set for Nov. 23 against Simon Fraser.
