PORTLAND, ORE. - John Peckham of the University of Alaska Anchorage was named the GNAC Runner of the Week after topping a field of 23 competitors on his home course on Saturday, emerging with a win at the Seawolf Throwdown.

The UAA junior finished the 8k course in 25:54.5, good enough for an 11-second victory ahead of Alaska Fairbanks's Benjamin Browning. Peckham is one of the conference's most experienced returners, after placing 11th at the 2023 GNAC Championships, 30th at the 2023 NCAA West Region Championships and competing at the NCAA Championships as a member of the Seawolves' team.

UAA will have a rematch with UAF at the Blu and Gold Meet in Fairbanks on Sept. 14.
